The Amur leopard is an MVP when it comes to biodiversity. They are key to maintaining the balance of other species in their habitat, which in turn keeps the rest of the forest ecosystem ticking along. On top of that, preservation of their habitat means the preservation of other animals, from Amur tigers to deer. With careful planning and your help, we can also preserve their future.
Facts for your friends:
- Amur leopards are the only leopard species that is able to reside and hunt in snow — without a hat and scarf, at least.
- Joey doesn’t share food, and neither do these cats. Amur leopards will hide their unfinished kills up trees to prevent other predators taking it.
- Capable of reaching speeds of up to 37 kph and able to leap up to 10 feet vertically and 19 feet horizontally, you’re gonna want an Amur leopard on your sports team.
- Want all the joy of seeing them up close but without the inherent danger? Click here to visit Tallinn Zoo’s real-time webcast following their Amur leopard’s day-to-day life.
